Meeting
minutes will be posted on the Chamber web page:
www.riversidechamberofcommerce.com.
As of today’s date we have
received 25 active
memberships and 6 associate memberships for 2006.
TREASURER’S
Cash
on hand: $14,937.73. A payment of $2,500 was
REPORT
issued
to the Village of Riverside for the improvements in Centennial Park voted
upon at the
February meeting.
$50 was spent on flowers for the funeral of former member Jack Simpson.
$30 to pay our annual
internet fees was paid. Treasurer Eric Sundstrom was unable to attend
this month’s meeting.
OLD BUSINESS
The
Economic development Corporation held an event on March 19th at
the Riverside Golf Club
in which the Chamber
of Commerce was a co-sponsor. Members of the Chamber were not
informed of this fact
until March 18th. Many members were never invited. This information
led
to a lengthy discussion
about the topics discussed at the meeting and the fact that the Chamber
co-sponsored an event
without knowing that members were invited. Chamber President, David
Moravecek attended
the meeting on the Chamber’s behalf despite the short notice. A village
representative said
that all members of the Chamber were invited, but this turned out to be
incorrect. No action
taken by the Chamber at this time.
Chalk Fest
The Chamber provided
a deposit of $3500 toward sponsorship of this year’s inaugural Chalk
Fest. David Moravecek
has been in discussions with Katie Rush who is representing the village
for this event. Further
information will be provided at a later date.
Person of the Year
Event:
A three person
panel consisting of David Moravecek, Brian Brennan, and Dan from First
American Bank will
be meeting this month to select the Chamber’s nominee for person of the
year. The Riverside
Township Lions Club, co-sponsors of the event, will also provide a
nominee. An announcement
will be made at a later date.
NEW BUSINESS
Janice
Fisher of the Riverside Public Library asked for local businesses to sponsor
bookmarks.
The names or logos
of sponsoring businesses will be placed on the bookmarks. Cost is $75 per
business.
A discussion took
place about the possibility of advertising in the Landmark newspaper as a
Chamber. A decision
was made to gather information about the cost involved and the content of
the ads. Kevin Frontone
volunteered to investigate this matter. A report will be given and a vote
taken at the April
meeting.
Rick Rovella proposed
that the Chamber create and sponsor another annual event in April of
2007 due to the current
gap between events. The Chamber currently does not sponsor an event
in the early spring.
Suggestions were provided, but no action was taken at this time.
